Certified copies of document(s) containing details of a) How many data centers and servers are housing Pakistan’s National Identification Database; b) Where within or outside of Pakistan is each of these servers containing biometric data of Pakistani citizens located; c) What parties have access to each of these servers; d) Were these servers designed in-house by employees at NADRA, or through external technical partnerships in part, or through complete external procurement – in which case, e) Certified copies of the Import License for each of these external procurements, and f) Certified copies of formal agreements / terms of agreement with these external parties g) In case NADRA purchases the services of third-party data hosting companies to store citizen biometric data, a list of names of these service providers. Current status:

October 4, 2016: Response received from NADRA denying access to requested information. November 18, 2016: Complaint letter filed with the Federal Ombudsman of Pakistan. December 1, 2016: Response received from the Federal Ombudsman Secretariat scheduling the complaint’s hearing for December 13, 2016. December 13, 2016: Hearing takes place and NADRA is given till December 27, 2016 to submit a response in writing. Next hearing is scheduled for December 27, 2016. December 28, 2016: Following no written response received from NADRA, and, no appearance on its behalf on the hearing on December 27, 2016, Federal Ombudsman issues a Final Notice of Hearing and schedules the final hearing for January 10, 2017. January 30, 2017: Recommendations received by the Federal Ombudsman state that ‘documents requested (by the complainant) that do not compromise Pakistan’s relations with another state, particularly those listed under but not limited to serial numbers (1), (2), (3), and (4) are liable to be provided (to the complainant)’ within 15 days of the receipt of these Findings. March 9, 2017: Complaint Letter filed with the Federal Ombdusman to register that no follow-up response has been received from NADRA in compliance with Federal Ombudsman’s findings. March 21, 2017: Notice received from the Federal Ombudsman for the Hearing of the Review Petition (requested by NADRA on March 10, 2017) on April 11, 2017.
